Thursday’s Meeting and Fundraiser

Hello, everyone!

The Fall semester is finally kicking off after a brief interruption by Hurricane Isaac, and PRSSA at LSU is starting with a bang!

This Thursday, Sept. 6, is our first business meeting of the semester. Themed “Sports PR,” we are featuring a very special guest, Dennis Rogers, the Director of Basketball Communications for the New Orleans Hornets. Rogers has great insight to share with us, for example, here’s how he started his career:

" “I have always been involved in sports, especially basketball. Once I graduated from SMU, I became the graduate assistant for the Miss. State Men’s Basketball Team for one season. After that, I interned with the Dallas Cowboys and a sports agency in San Antonio before I started with the Hornets.”

We are so excited and thankful to have Mr. Rogers help us begin the semester.

After the meeting, we will have a mixer at Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt on Highland Road (next to PJ’s Coffee & Buffalo Wild Wings). Anyone is welcome, so bring all your friends! 15 percent of the proceeds will go to PRSSA at LSU to be used for National Conference fundraising, as long as you mention “PRSSA at LSU.” (And if you can’t go after the meeting, the fundraising is going on all day!)

Lastly, if you are looking for membership applications, you can find them under the ‘Membership’ tab on the top bar of this page. Please bring your completed PRSSA membership applications and dues if you have not yet submitted them online. Remember, the dues must be in a sealed envelope with your name on it. You have until Oct. 25 to pay dues with cash or check. If paying online, you have until Oct. 4 due to a 21-day processing time. If you are interested in PRestige, bring your completed PRestige applications if you have not submitted them online.

We have a very exciting year planned for PRSSA, and we can’t wait for you to be a part of it! Stay up to date on all things PRSSA at LSU by checking this blog, the website, and our Twitter and Facebook!

Have a great rest of the week!
